Tip of the Week 8 – 2017 – adjectives with -ed & -ing

Tip of the Week 8 for 2017 is using adjectives with -ed & -ing.

Adjectives with either -ed or -ing have different meanings.  Adjectives ending in -ed describe how people feel about something (emotions) and adjectives ending in -ing describe what causes emotion.  Take a look at our list below and then practice:

bored = gelangweilt    /    boring = langweilig

interested = interessiert    /    interesting = interessant

excited = aufgeregt    /    exciting = aufregend

tired = müde    /    tiring = ermüdend

annoyed = genervt    /    annoying = nervend

confused = verwirrt    /    confusing = verwirrend

surprised = überrascht    /    surprising = überraschend

frustrated = frustriert    /    frustrating = frustrierend

satisfied = zufrieden    /    satisfying = zufriedenstellend

disappointed = enttäuscht    /    disappointing = entäuschend

relaxed = entspannt    /    relaxing = entspannend
