Tip of the Week 29 – 2019 – would like-would be-would-want-like

Sophie’s probation time is finally over. She will have a conversation with her boss this week. Luckily, Paul is back in the office, so that she can ask him how to prepare for that conversation. He suggests Tip #29: would like-would be-would-want-like so that she is able to talk about her future wishes, plans and goals for her and the company.

Here we look at the differences between similar looking words which are often used wrongly.

would like = möchte – would like to visit the trade fair.

would be = wäre – would be grateful if you could send me an invitation.

would = würde – would go to the trade fair if I had an invitation.

want = wollen – want to go to the trade fair.

like = mögen – like going to trade fairs.
